Mbappe was able to see 15 minutes off the bench against Canada, as France were held to a 0-0 draw, and told reporters afterwards that his recovery from a couple of untimely knocks is “going very well” – with there seemingly no concerns on his part regarding Euros involvement.

Didier Deschamps is also confident that his talismanic captain will be ready for a shot at European glory, saying when asked about Mbappe’s limited involvement in warm-up exercises on and off the pitch: “Kylian received a blow during the last match (against Luxembourg) on Wednesday and before the (training) session, there was significant bruising on the knee. He had treatment, he was much better today but even if he wanted to play everything, there was no risk to take.”
WHAT NEXT?
Mbappe’s new Madrid team-mate Aurelien Tchouameni sat out the stalemate with Canada and is not expected to be ready for France’s Euro 2024 opener against Austria on June 17 – but he could come into contention for further Group D outings against the Netherlands and Poland.
