The Reds dominated proceedings, managing 71% possession, but Dejan Lovren’s header was the only time they were able to beat Alex Meret in the opposition goal.
As such, they will likely need at least a point against RB Salzburg in their last match of the group to qualify for the next round.

There were no such problems for the Merseyside outfit’s U19 team though. They faced Napoli’s junior side in the UEFA Youth League and put the Italian team to the sword, eventually prevailing 7-0. Curtis Jones scored a hattrick, Luis Longstaff grabbed a brace, and Jake Cain and Elijah Dixon-Bonner both netted one apiece.
Part of Jones’ trio of strikes was a penalty. And he had plenty to say to Harvey Elliott afterwards. In one clip, he can be seen telling the former Fulham youngster to “shut up”. It appears that Elliott had been making it clear he wanted to take the spot-kick as well.
