Celtic look set to miss out on signing striker Santos Borre, according to Football Insider.
The Lowdown: Hoops’ interest
Football Insider shared a story last week claiming the Hoops had joined rivals Rangers in the race for the free agent.
Borre’s contract with River Plate expired on Wednesday evening and the Hoops registered their interest in the centre-forward ahead of a possible cut-price switch to Scotland.
The 25-year-old’s contract demands were thought to be crucial when it came to any potential deal for Borre, and it seemed as if that was the case after all.
The Latest: Source shares Frankfurt swoop
According to Football Insider, who were informed by a recruitment source, German side Eintracht Frankfurt are closing in on the Colombia international.
The report adds that personal terms have been agreed, with his salary demands an issue for both Celtic and Rangers.
A move to Frankfurt could now be finalised by the end of the week for the 5 foot 7 forward after he accepted terms with the Bundesliga side.

The Verdict: Edouard situation crucial
Should Odsonne Edouard depart Parkhead despite his move to Leicester City falling through, the Hoops would be in desperate need of a new striker.
The Frenchman is still expected to leave, and if he does, the Hoops would need a marquee attacking addition, like Borre, to replace Edouard.
Borre has scored 74 goals in his career and has been capped at international level on four occasions, so the £15.3m-rated striker looked to be a suitable addition.
Who knows, Edouard may well remain in Glasgow, but time is ticking ahead of Celtic’s Champions League qualifier later this month, so transfer dealings need to be resolved as soon as possible, and it is certainly a blow to miss out on an experienced international with a proven track record of finding the back of the net.
