Mehrdad Ghodoussi has dropped a claim on the potential takeover of Newcastle United after news emerged on the arbitration case against the Premier League.

As per the official website of the St. James’ Park faithful, the arbitration hearing has now been adjourned until early 2022 due to issues with the disclosure of evidence.
The process was set to take place this month, but now further delays have been implemented.
The Latest: Ghodoussi reacts
Ghodoussi, who is the husband of consortium member Amanda Staveley, has since dropped a claim on the potential takeover in the North East after the news of the delay to arbitration emerged.
Writing on his Twitter page, he claimed: “There’s only one party playing games here.”
The Verdict: Inevitable disappointment
It all seems as if the proposed takeover in the North East by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consortium is becoming increasingly less likely to happen.
Delay after delay, it does not seem to be going in the right direction any time soon, and the Tyneside club will now have to go into the start of another season without knowing where their future lies.
Ghodoussi is suggesting that the top flight are “playing games” judging by his latest claim, and it certainly seems as if they are doing everything that they can in order to try and delay a final decision, perhaps with the intention of boring the buyers into packing up and leaving.
Nonetheless, as tough as it sounds, it seems likely that this will all end up in heartbreak for the Toon Army.
